SMTP Settings

4 min readUpdated 15 March 2026
SMTP settings are useful when your email network has enhanced security or spam filters requiring authorisation verification. Configuring a custom SMTP provider also eliminates the hourly email sending caps applied to standard Limecube accounts.

Where to Find Your SMTP Settings

Navigate to More > Administration > Forms/Email tab from the top menu when logged in.

Email Limits per Hour

Without custom SMTP configuration, Limecube enforces hourly sending restrictions to protect the network from abuse that could affect other customers:

Default Limits by Plan

 1. 1Free trial accounts: 10 emails per hour
 2. 2Starter plans: 20 emails per hour
 3. 3Standard plan: 80 emails per hour
Queued messages are not lost — they simply wait for the next hour's sending window. These limits are more than generous for the average site, but if you need higher throughput, configure a third-party SMTP provider.

The Technical Explanation

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol — communication protocols that enable software to transmit email online. SMTP handles outgoing messages exclusively. POP3 and IMAP are complementary protocols that manage incoming mail retrieval and storage.

Third-Party SMTP Providers

You can connect any third-party SMTP service to your Limecube site. Popular options include:
 1. 1Google SMTP
 2. 2SendPulse
 3. 3Mailgun
 4. 4SendGrid
 5. 5Mimecast
When configuring your SMTP settings, you will need the provider's SMTP server address, port number, and your authentication credentials. If your provider requires IP whitelisting, use: 35.189.21.193.
