Limecube supports embedding videos from YouTube and Vimeo directly into your website. Three different methods are available depending on how you want the video to appear, within text content, as a full-width banner, or as a responsive standalone element.
Method 1: Content Block
Best for inserting videos within text content on your page. Add a content block, click the settings icon, then the video icon. You can either upload a video file directly (General tab) or paste an embed code from YouTube or Vimeo (Embed tab).
Method 2: Banner Element
Ideal for prominent video displays without visible player controls. The banner element strips platform controls automatically, creating a clean, immersive video background. This works well for hero sections at the top of your page.
Method 3: The Video element
The dedicated Video element is the best choice when you want a video to sit on its own with full control over how it plays. It handles uploaded files, YouTube and Vimeo.
If you're looking for a podcast or music player, use the separate Music / Podcasts element instead. Video embeds that used to be added through the Integrations element now live here too.
Adding a video
- 1In the editor, open Add Elements and choose Video from the Basic group.
- 2On the Content tab, pick your Source: Upload, YouTube or Vimeo.
Upload: click Choose file to pick a video from your file library. MP4 or WebM work best, and keeping files under 50MB keeps playback smooth on phones. You can also set a Thumbnail, the still image shown before the video starts.
YouTube or Vimeo: paste the link, or switch to Embed code and paste the code the platform gives you. Turn on Show preview thumbnail to load a still image first and only load the player when someone clicks, which makes your page noticeably faster.
The rest of the panel controls how the video looks and behaves:
Layout
- Aspect ratio: 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 9:16 (vertical) or Original
- Width (%): how much of the column the video fills
- Alignment: Left, Centre or Right
Playback
- Show controls: the play bar (on by default)
- Autoplay: start automatically
- Muted: start silent
- Loop: restart when it finishes
- Inline playback (iPhone): keeps uploaded videos playing in the page instead of jumping to full screen (on by default)
- Preload: for uploaded files, choose None, Metadata (default) or Auto

- Hide on mobile
Video element tips
- Autoplay always means muted. Browsers block autoplaying sound, so switching Autoplay on automatically switches Muted on too. Turning Autoplay off again doesn't unmute it, so do that yourself if you need to.
- Autoplaying YouTube and Vimeo videos wait until the video scrolls into view before playing.
- Your video must be Public or Unlisted. Private videos can't be embedded. Vimeo videos locked with a password or restricted by domain won't play either.
- On phones, videos go full width and centred whatever you set for width and alignment, which keeps them watchable in narrow columns.
- Pasting a YouTube Shorts link automatically switches the aspect ratio to vertical.
- Vertical videos are capped in width on purpose so they don't take over the page.
- Embed code must be the platform's own, just the iframe from YouTube or Vimeo. Extra scripts or wrapper code will be rejected when you save.
- Add captions to your video on YouTube or Vimeo, as they help accessibility and SEO.
Adding Videos to Boxes
You can also embed videos inside box layouts. Click inside the text area, locate the video icon on the toolbar, paste the URL into the Source field, and confirm.
Use HD quality (720p minimum) and create engaging, clear thumbnails. Set video visibility to Public or Unlisted on YouTube/Vimeo, and include captions for accessibility and SEO benefits.
