Adding a Customised Multilingual Widget to Your Website

5 min readUpdated 15 March 2026
Offering your website in multiple languages helps you reach a broader audience. Limecube supports two translation approaches: the free Google Translate widget for quick automated translations, and Weglot for higher-quality, SEO-friendly multilingual sites.

Option 1: Google Translate Widget

Google Translate provides a free, quick solution for adding automated translations to your site. You can customise which languages appear in the dropdown by generating a code snippet with a ChatGPT prompt.

Setting Up Google Translate on Limecube

  1. 1Confirm which languages you want to offer on your site
  2. 2Use the provided ChatGPT prompt to generate your customised HTML and JavaScript code
  3. 3Add the HTML code via the <a href="/support/kb/notification-bar">Notification Bar</a> settings
  4. 4Add the JavaScript code through <a href="/support/kb/adding-analytics-and-other-tracking-codes">Analytics and code injection</a>
  5. 5Save your settings and refresh your website
  6. 6Test the widget to ensure all selected languages work correctly
To customise which languages appear, replace the language codes on the fifth line of the JavaScript snippet. For example: 'de,en,es,it,zh-CN,ar,pt,ru,fr'.

Option 2: Weglot Translation Tool

Weglot is a premium third-party translation service that combines AI translation, human editing, and professional translators for higher-quality results. It also provides automatic SEO optimisation features including hreflang tags and language subdomains.

Key Advantages of Weglot

Weglot offers superior translation quality compared to automated tools, along with built-in SEO features that help search engines index your translated pages correctly. This makes it ideal for businesses that need professional-grade multilingual support.

Integrating Weglot with Limecube

  1. 1Create an account at weglot.com and select a plan
  2. 2Follow Weglot's integration guide to obtain your embed code
  3. 3Add the Weglot script to your Limecube site via code injection
  4. 4Configure your source and target languages in the Weglot dashboard
  5. 5Test the language switcher on your live site
Weglot is a third-party service and Limecube has no affiliation with them. Pricing, features, and support are managed entirely by Weglot.
When using ChatGPT to generate your Google Translate code snippet, you may need to guide it to follow the exact format provided in the Limecube documentation for best results.
