Show what your customers say about you, as a rotating carousel, a grid, a spotlight, or a wall of video.
Adding testimonials
- 1In the editor, open Add Elements and choose Testimonials from the Basic section.
- 2Drop it onto your page. It arrives with two example testimonials.
- 3Hover the element and click the pencil icon to open the panel on the Items tab.
- 4Click Add testimonial to add another, or click an existing one to edit it.
Each testimonial has these fields:
- Author: the person's name
- Text: what they said
- Role / title: e.g. Product Manager
- Company: e.g. Acme Inc.
- Rating: five clickable stars, with a Clear button to remove it (available in the Grid, Featured and Video layouts)
- Media: choose None, Image or Video for this person
To reorder, drag a testimonial by the grip handle on the left. To delete, click the bin icon. You'll always keep at least one testimonial; the bin disappears when only one is left.
Choosing a layout
On the Items tab, pick one of five layouts:
| Layout | Best for |
|---|---|
| Carousel | One testimonial at a time, fading between them. The classic look, and the default. |
| Stacked | Every testimonial full width, one under another. Good when each one deserves attention. |
| Grid | Tiles side by side, all visible at once. Good for lots of short quotes. |
| Featured | One large testimonial with clickable thumbnails underneath. Great for a handful of strong stories. |
| Video | A wall of video tiles. Click one to play it full screen. |
Settings change with the layout you pick. Choose Grid and you'll see a Columns slider; choose Carousel and you'll see autoplay and navigation options instead. Nothing is lost: switch back and your previous settings return.
Settings tab
Behaviour (Carousel and Featured)
- Autoplay: rotate automatically. On by default.
- Autoplay speed (ms): how long each testimonial stays, in milliseconds. 4000 (four seconds) by default. Only appears when Autoplay is on.
- Show arrows (Carousel): previous and next arrows. Off by default.
- Show dots (Carousel): the clickable dots underneath. On by default.
Columns (Grid and Video)
- Columns: 1 to 4 across. Two by default.
Appearance (all layouts)
- Image size (px): 40 to 300. Seventy by default.
- Image shape: Circle, Square, Rounded or Landscape. Circle by default.
- Show quote marks: the decorative quotation mark. On by default. Not shown in the Video layout, which never uses quote marks.
Video (Video layout)
- Video aspect ratio: 16:9, 4:3 or 1:1.
Adding video testimonials
- 1Open a testimonial and set Media to Video.
- 2Choose a Video source: Upload, YouTube or Vimeo.
- 3For YouTube or Vimeo, paste the full link (e.g.
https://youtu.be/abc123). For an upload, click Choose video. MP4 works best, and keeping files under 50MB keeps playback smooth on phones.
Clicking a video on your live site opens it full screen and starts playing. Visitors close it with the ×, by clicking outside it, or by pressing Esc. For more on adding video elsewhere, see Adding and editing videos.
Vimeo doesn't supply a thumbnail automatically, so set an Image on that testimonial as well if you want to control what the tile looks like before it's played.
Styles tab
Switch between Desktop, Tablet and Mobile at the top. Colours apply everywhere, so they're only editable on Desktop; font sizes and spacing can differ per device.
- Layout: Alignment (Left, Centre or Right), Horizontal spacing (%), and Background colour
- Testimonial text: Font size (px), Font weight, Text colour
- Author: Font size (px), Font weight, Author colour, Role / company colour
- Quotation marks: Font family, Font size (px), Quotation colour
- Controls: navigation colours for the Carousel, thumbnail colours for Featured, Rating stars colour, and Play button colour
Leave a font size at its default to keep inheriting your site's theme; nudging a slider fixes that text at a set size.
Tips
- Keep testimonials short. Two or three sentences reads best in every layout.
- Include a full name, role and company. Specific detail is far more persuasive than 'J.S., Happy Customer'.
- No photo? No problem. The card simply shows the words. In the Featured layout, a person without a photo gets a circle showing the first letter of their name.
- Keep Grid entries a similar length. Tiles in a row stretch to match the tallest one, so one very long quote leaves white space beside it.
- On phones, Carousel arrows are always hidden even if you've switched them on, so visitors swipe instead. Dots still show if enabled, and Grids become a single column automatically.
- Missing your dots? New elements show them by default, but testimonials added before this update keep whatever they had. Just switch Show dots back on.
- The Text field is plain text. There's no bold or link formatting for testimonial wording.
