Buy and manage a domain name for your site without leaving Limecube.
Finding the domain manager#
Click Buy a Domain in the admin menu, which opens the Domain Manager with tabs for Search Domains, My Domains and Transfer In.
Searching#
Type your business name, with or without an extension, and click Search. Each result shows whether it's Available, the yearly price, and an Add to Cart button. Alternative names and extensions are suggested underneath.
Checking out#
Checkout runs in four steps: Cart › Contact › Payment › Complete.
- Cart: set how many years to register for
- Contact: the registrant details the domain registry requires. Some extensions (like .com.au) ask for extra eligibility details.
- Payment: Credit / Debit Card or PayPal
- Complete: confirmation that registration is under way
What happens next: it's automatic#
You don't have to configure anything. Limecube sets your domain up for you: it creates the Cloudflare zone, points the nameservers, waits for the change to spread worldwide, and issues your SSL certificate.
Your domain shows a Pending badge while that runs. Open it and you'll see live progress across four steps, Cloudflare, Nameservers, DNS Propagated and SSL Certificate, each turning green as it completes.
This usually takes 4 to 6 hours. You can carry on using Limecube while it finishes. If it's still pending after six hours, contact support.
My Domains#
Each domain shows a status badge:
- Active: set up and working
- Pending: still being configured
- Externally managed: bought elsewhere, or from our previous system
Managing a domain#
Open any domain for:
- Registrar Lock: prevents unauthorised transfers away
- WHOIS Privacy: hides your personal contact details from public WHOIS lookups
- Synced to Site: adds the domain to your site so it can go live
- Primary Domain: makes it the main address visitors see
- Live: publishes your site on it
- Manage DNS Records: add or edit A, AAAA, CNAME and MX records
Renewing#
Renewal is manual. Click Renew on the domain and it's added to your cart, where you can choose how many years before paying.
We'll email you before it expires, but domains don't renew themselves, so set a reminder for anything important.
Transferring a domain in#
Use the Transfer In tab. You'll need your domain name and the authorization code (also called an EPP code) from your current registrar, usually in their control panel under domain settings. Transfers can take up to 5 days, and we'll email you when it's done.
Tips#
- Register for more than one year where you can: it's one less thing to forget.
- Don't panic during setup. A new domain not resolving in the first few hours is normal.
- Domain purchases are non-refundable once registered, so check the spelling carefully.
