Introduction
A domain is the main URL or web address of your website. Limecube allows you to purchase and integrate a custom domain directly. When choosing a domain name, pick something that represents your business or brand, is easy to spell, and will be remembered by visitors.
Domain Composition
A domain consists of two parts: the name (e.g. 'exampledomain' in www.exampledomain.com) and the extension (e.g. '.com'). Consider both carefully before registering.
Purchasing a Domain
Step 1 — Find Your Domain
- 1In the page editor, click More > Buy a Domain (or from the dashboard, click 'Buy domain' on the site tile)
- 2Type in your desired domain name without the extension
- 3Select the extension from the dropdown and click 'Check availability'
- 4If available, click 'Add domain to checkout' — consider adding variations for brand protection
While additional domain variations will not benefit your SEO, they protect your brand. Competitors may otherwise purchase them and attempt to sell them back at a much higher price.
Steps 2–4 — Registration and Payment
- 1Step 2: Complete all required registrant detail fields for the domain registry
- 2Step 3: Finalise payment (domain purchases are non-refundable)
- 3Step 4: Track the status of your domain — you will receive email confirmation once it is set up. Processing typically takes a few minutes to a few hours.
Connecting the Domain to Your Site
Steps to Connect
- 1Next to your domain, click the 'Connect to this site' button
- 2This links your domain to your Limecube site
You need an active Limecube subscription for domain connection to work. The domain alone is not sufficient without a subscription.
Managing DNS
For domains purchased within Limecube, you can manage DNS records from the domains panel. Click 'Manage DNS' to view your current settings, and use Add, Edit, or Delete to manage records. Supported types include A, AAAA, CNAME, and MX records. DNS updates can take 2–4 hours to reflect.
When editing or deleting DNS records, save the original settings so you can reverse changes if necessary.
Renewing Your Domain
Steps to Renew
- 1Log in to your site
- 2From the page editor: click More on the top menu. From the dashboard: click 'Buy domain' on the site tile.
- 3Select 'Buy Domain' then click the 'Renew' button
- 4Proceed with the payment process
Set calendar reminders for renewal dates and ensure Limecube emails are whitelisted in your inbox. If your domain has expired, it can take up to an hour to reactivate after renewal.
