Connecting Your Domain

8 min readUpdated 1 March 2026

What Is a Domain?

A domain is the main URL or web address of your website. It is made up of two parts: the name (e.g. 'exampledomain' in www.exampledomain.com) and the extension (e.g. '.com'). When choosing a domain, pick something that represents who you are as a business, blog, or brand, is easy to spell, and will be remembered by your visitors.
Domain prices vary based on extension, length, popularity, and availability. Extensions such as .xyz are available from as little as $1.16 per year. You can register domains at limecube.secureapi.com.au.

Buying Through Limecube vs Connecting an External Domain

Limecube offers two paths: you can purchase a domain directly through Limecube at competitive rates, or you can connect an externally registered domain by pointing its DNS to Limecube's servers. Either way, you will need an active Limecube subscription to make your site live.
Custom email addresses that match your domain add a degree of professionalism to your business or blog. You can set up a custom email for your domain through Google Workspace.

Overview

Connecting your domain to Limecube allows you to point your domain to your site and make it live. You need three steps: set up a Limecube subscription, add your domain from within your Limecube account, and point your domain DNS to Limecube.

Step 1 — Adding Your Domain Name

Once you apply this change, if DNS has not been set, you will not be able to access your Limecube site until the DNS has been fully updated.

Steps to Add Your Domain

 1. 1Go to 'Profile' on the site header
 2. 2Under 'Domains', enter your full website address
 3. 3Choose which version of your domain should be the 'Primary' version
 4. 4Point your domain to Limecube if you have not already (see Step 2 below, or click your provider name for specific instructions)
 5. 5Click the 'Domain Live' button when you are ready to launch your site
 6. 6Click Apply

Step 2 — Pointing Your DNS

Initial Steps

 1. 1Log in to your domain host where you registered your domain
 2. 2Go to the section where you can manage your domain DNS settings — look for 'Manage Domains', 'Domain Manager', 'Zone File Settings', or 'DNS Manager'
 3. 3Review how your DNS records are currently set up — there are two scenarios depending on your host

Scenario 1 — Pointing by A Records

If you see two or three A records pointing '@', 'www', or '*' to the same IP address (and no CNAME record with 'www' in the Name field), use this method.

Method 1 — A Records Only

 1. 1Edit the record where the Name is '@' and change the IP address to:
35.197.188.96

 2. 2Edit the record where the Name is 'www' and change the IP address to:
35.197.188.96

 3. 3If a wildcard record ('*') exists, edit it and also change the IP to:
35.197.188.96

Scenario 2 — Pointing by CNAME Records

If you see a CNAME record in your list with 'www' in the Name field, use this method instead.

Method 2 — CNAME and A Records

 1. 1Edit the A record where the Name is '@' and change the IP address to:
35.197.188.96

 2. 2Do NOT change the CNAME record
 3. 3If a wildcard record ('*') exists, edit it and change the IP to:
35.197.188.96

Propagation Time

It may take 2–24 hours for your domain to fully point to Limecube. During this period, some visitors may see the new site while others still see the old one.
