What Is Duplicate Content and Why Does It Matter?
Duplicate content appears when substantially similar text exists across multiple pages on your website. Whether it triggers a Google penalty or simply prevents optimal rankings, it is under all circumstances something to avoid. The Duplicate Content Checker identifies internal duplicate content within your site that could negatively impact SEO.
This feature is only available on Business plans. The tool checks internal pages only — it does not compare against external sites.
How to Check for Duplicate Content
- 1Access More > SEO Manager from the top menu
- 2Click the Duplicate Content tab in the left panel
- 3Select 'Check for duplicate contents' to start the scan
- 4The tool may queue for up to 2 minutes before running, then displays a progress bar
- 5Once complete, results show pages ordered by similarity percentage
Duplicate Content Checker Tutorial
Making Sense of the Results
Results serve as guidance and require careful analysis. The tool provides a percentage match comparing each page against others. You can expand each result to see exactly which pages share similar content. Keep in mind that small pages (under 200 words) often show high duplication due to shared elements like headers and footers. Content inside iFrames is not recognised as page content by the tool.
What to Do with Duplicate Content
Two Approaches
- 1Add unique content — write original text for each page to decrease similarity percentages
- 2Apply noindex tags — use the Bulk Noindex/Nofollow tool cautiously, and consult an SEO professional before removing pages from search results
Pages marked with noindex will not appear in Google results but will still show in the Duplicate Content Checker results. Focus on adding unique, valuable content as the primary solution — noindex should be a last resort.
