The search results page is a dedicated page on your site that displays matching content when a visitor performs a search. It works together with the site search function element and must be created before the search plugin can be configured.
Creating a Search Results Page
- 1Create a new page on your site and give it a clear name such as 'Search Results'
- 2The page content will be populated automatically by search results — no need to add content elements
- 3Navigate to your search element settings and select this page as the results destination
- 4Save your changes and test by performing a search on the live site
How Results Are Displayed
When a visitor searches your site, matching results are displayed on this page with a title, excerpt, and link to the full page. The number of results shown per page and the excerpt length are controlled through the search element settings.
Customising the Results Page
While the search results themselves are generated automatically, you can customise the page header, background, and surrounding sections to match the rest of your site design. The results section inherits your site's colour scheme and typography settings.
Keep the search results page simple and free of distracting elements. Visitors are looking for specific content, so a clean layout helps them find what they need quickly.
