What Is the Open Graph Protocol?
The Open Graph protocol enables any web page to become a rich object in a social graph by providing standardised metadata that social platforms recognise. When you share a page URL on social media, platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp automatically scan the content to determine what to display. Open Graph settings allow you to override this behaviour and control the appearance.
Where to Find Your Settings
Access Open Graph settings via the page settings popup in the page editor. Click the settings icon for the page you want to configure. The OG settings panel lets you customise three fields for each page.
Fields You Can Customise
- 1Title — the title that appears in the social media post when your page is shared
- 2Description — the text that appears below the title in the social post
- 3Image — the thumbnail image that displays in the social post
Help Video
If you do not set Open Graph values, social platforms will attempt to pull a title, description, and image from your page automatically. Setting them explicitly ensures your pages look professional and consistent when shared.
