Google Search Console (GSC)

Google Search Console provides tools and reports to help you measure your site's Search traffic and performance, fix issues, and make your site shine in Google Search results.

This is also an important step in helping Google find your site.

Getting started with Google Search Console (GSC)

To get started setting up your Google Search Console (GSC), read this support article from Google.

When adding your domain to GSC, you will be presented with 2 options:

  1. Domain property
  2. URL-prefix property

GSC Setup

If you have access to your Google Analytics account as an administrator, the fastest and easiest step here is the 'URL prefix' option, and on the next step, choose 'Google Analytics' as the verification method. As long as your Google Analytics has been setup correctly, this method will allow you to verify with a click. All other methods will require you to take additional actions in other platforms such as verification records under your domain name.

TXT verification versus CNAME verification

Depending on where your domain is hosted, you won't always have the ability to add a TXT record to your domain name. In this case, choose 'CNAME' as your verification method.

If you bought your domain within Limecube, you will need to choose the CNAME option and head over to your domain panel where you manage your DNS to add the CNAME record. Find out how here.
