Limecube domains

You can purchase a domain directly within Limecube and connect it seamlessly to your site, avoiding the hassle of DNS and domain pointing with other providers. Our standard pricing on many domains, including .com.au, is among the lowest in Australia.

How to purchase a domain

Step 1 - Find your domain

  1. In the page editor, click: More > Buy a Domain.
  2. Type in the desired domain name without the extension.
  3. Select the extension from the dropdown and click 'check availability'.
  4. If available, click 'add domain to checkout'. Consider additional domain variations for brand protection.
    • Click the checkbox of any additional domains if you want them, then press the 'add domain to checkout' button to proceed to the next screen.
While additional domains won't benefit your SEO, they can be great to protect against your competitors getting them. This can be especially important with variations on your brand name, as at some point, someone else may buy it and try and sell it back to you at a much higher price (typically in the thousands).

Step 2 - Adding your registrant details

Complete all required fields for the domain registry.

Step 3 - Paying

Finalise payment (non-refundable). Click here for our refund policy.

Step 4 - Confirmation

Track the status of your domain. You'll receive email confirmation once setup. Typically for the domain to process, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.

Manage DNS

This section is for domains purchased within Limecube. For other DNS-related information, go here.

DNS helps manage where a domain points, such as to a website or email account. Learn more about DNS here.

Once your domain is registered, under the domains panel, you will see this row of icons:

Manage DNS

Click 'Manage DNS' to access DNS options and view current DNS settings. You can:

  • Add: Create DNS records.
  • Edit: Modify existing records.
  • Delete: Remove records.
Note: When editing or deleting records, save the original settings to reverse changes if necessary.

Adding a new record

Choose the correct record type (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX) and enter the information carefully. DNS updates can take 2-4 hours to reflect changes.

Use a DNS tool to verify if updates have been applied correctly.

Connecting the domain to your site

Once you've purchased your domain, you need to connect it to your Limecube site:

  1. Next to your domain, click the 'Connect to this site' button.
  2. This will link your domain to your Limecube site.

Important: You need an active Limecube subscription for this to work. The domain alone is not sufficient without a Limecube subscription.

Renewing your domain

To renew your domain, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your site.
  2. Choose from one of these two options::
    1. If you're in the page editor: Click 'More' on the top menu.
    2. If you're on the dashboard: In the small tile that shows your site details, click 'Buy domain'.
  3. Select 'Buy Domain'.
  4. Click the 'Renew' button and proceed with the payment process.

Note: If your domain has expired, it can take up to an hour to start running again after renewal.

Tips

  1. Set Calendar Reminders: To avoid domain expiration, set calendar reminders for renewal dates and ensure Limecube emails are whitelisted to land in your inbox.
  2. Double-Check DNS Settings: Ensure DNS records are correctly entered to avoid downtime.
  3. Use Limecube Support: Refer to Limecube support pages for detailed guidance on domain management.

Troubleshooting

  1. Domain Not Connected: There can be 3 main reasons for this:
    1. Ensure your Limecube subscription is active. The domain connection requires an active subscription.
    2. That you have connected your domain to your site. See this step if you aren't sure how.
    3. That the 'make live' button has not been set on the published site page. Click here to find out how.
  2. DNS Changes Not Reflecting: DNS updates can take 2-4 hours. Use DNS tools to verify changes.
  3. Domain Renewal Issues: If renewal doesn't activate immediately, wait up to an hour. Check for any missed steps in the renewal process.
  4. Adding a TXT record: By default you won't have access to add a TXT record, as this requires an upgrade to your domain to allow advanced DNS records. However in most cases, platforms will offer CNAME as an alternative option to a TXT records.
    • This is especially for Platforms like Zoho with email verification records being setup. By default they give you a TXT record option, but you can select CNAME instead. Learn more here about Zoho verification.
  5. Transferring your domain away from Limecube: If you are looking to transfer your domain away from Limecube you'll need your domain password or auth code. To access that:
    1. Go to: https://limecubedomains.com/ and Login from the top right corner.
    2. Choose 'Account Manager'
    3. If you don't have your Username or password handy, use the 'lost password' option.
    4. Click on your domain, to see your domain details
    5. Click options > Domain password to retrieve your password. Then follow the instructions provided by the new domain registrar.

FAQs

When purchasing a domain without any additional services, you are essentially acquiring the rights to use a specific web address (e.g., www.yourbusiness.com) for a designated period, typically one year. This registration allows you to associate that domain name with your website, making it accessible to users online.

What is included:

Domain Registration: The exclusive right to use the chosen domain name for the duration of the registration period.

What's not included:

  • Web Hosting: A service that stores your website's files and makes them accessible on the internet. Without hosting, your domain will not display any content.
  • Email Hosting: The ability to create custom email addresses using your domain (e.g., info@yourbusiness.com). This service is separate and often requires additional setup.
  • SSL Certificates: Security certificates that encrypt data between your website and its visitors, essential for protecting sensitive information.
  • Privacy Protection: A service that conceals your personal contact information in the public WHOIS database, helping to reduce spam and protect your privacy.
Website Building Tools: Platforms or software to design and develop your website.

Note: A Limecube subscription (which is a separate purchase to a domain purchase) includes web hosting and an SSL Certificate

No, there are no refunds.

Domains are purchased from a central domain registrar, and once purchased, this process cannot be reversed and the domain will remain under your account for the period of purchase.

You can change your website domain easily. To find out how, click here.

You can have as many as you want, but only one can be your 'primary' domain. This means all the domains you add to your site will still work with your site, but will redirect in to your primary domain.

Domain Transfer FAQs

From when you initiate the domain transfer process, it usually takes around 7 days. This is the same if you are transferring your domain to or from Limecube.

A domain transfer is simply that, your domain only being transferred. This means that no website files or email accounts will be transferred with the domain as well.

In most cases your DNS settings will move with the transfer, however it is a good idea to keep a copy of these to be sure.

If your domain is pointing to a website when you initiate the domain transfer, in most cases it will stay pointing to that same site during the transfer period.

In a small percentage of cases a domain registrar may cancel your DNS records or nameservers during that transfer, though that is rare.

These cannot be updated until the transfer has been completed.
