What Is Google Search Console?

Google Search Console (GSC) provides tools and reports to help you measure your site's search traffic and performance, fix issues, and make your site shine in Google Search results. Setting up GSC is also an important step in helping Google discover and index your site.

Getting Started

When adding your site to GSC, you will see two property options: Domain property and URL-prefix property.
If you have access to your Google Analytics account as an administrator, the fastest method is to choose 'URL prefix', then select 'Google Analytics' as the verification method. As long as your Analytics is set up correctly, you can verify with a single click.
The Google Analytics verification method avoids needing to add DNS records or HTML tags manually. All other methods require additional actions in external platforms.

TXT vs CNAME Verification

If you cannot use the Google Analytics method, you will need DNS verification. Not all domain hosts support TXT records — in that case, choose CNAME as your verification method instead.

Limecube-Hosted Domains

If you purchased your domain through Limecube, choose the CNAME option and add the CNAME record in your domain panel under Manage DNS.

After Verification

Once verified, submit your XML sitemap to GSC so Google can discover all your pages. Monitor the Performance and Coverage reports regularly to identify indexing issues and track your search rankings.
